25-year old Kate is probably the best known artist Belgium has ever sent to the Eurovision Song Contest. Kate Ryan scored several dance hits in her home country, before becoming internationally famous in 2002 with her version of "Désenchantée", a song by the French singer Mylène Farmer. This song went straight to the top of the charts in many countries: number 1 and double platinum in Belgium, number 2 and a gold record in Germany, number 3 in Austria and Norway, number 4 in The Netherlands, Sweden and Bulgaria, number 7 in Spain, number 11 in Denmark and Switzerland, number 12 in France and Portugal and a 9th spot in the European Top 100 singles chart.
Two other international hits followed: "Libertine" and "Scream for more/mon coeur resiste encore". Kate’s second album "Stronger" was distributed on a global scale and more than one million copies of Kate’s music were sold worldwide.
But Kate Ryan is more than a successful record selling artist alone. She is also a composer, who writes her own songs, and a musician, who plays the guitar and the piano.
At the Eurovision Song Contest Kate will perform "Je t'adore", a great pop song written in English, but with a French title. Right after its election as Belgium's entry for the contest it went to the top of the national music and airplay charts. In April it was released in most European countries as well and Kate went on to travel across Europe to promote her entry on radio and television.
On stage in Athens Kate Ryan will be accompanied by three male dancers and two top class backing vocalists in a stunning act developed by American choreographer Marvin Smith. Everything to make sure that Kate will conquer the hearts of Europe once more.
