Firstly, as some of you are aware the Jazz Café and Brighton Komedia dates have been rescheduled to coincide with the release of the new album and tour in September. The first Blow Monkeys tour in 18yrs !

"DEVIL'S TAVERN" contains 11 brand new songs, recorded in Andalusia in Southern Spain and featuring all four original members. The album was produced by the band themselves with additional production and mixing provided by old Blow Monkey accomplices Marius De Vries (Björk, Madonna. Rufus Wainwright) and Adam Moseley (Beck, Dust Bro's)

As well as performing songs from the new album on the tour, they will be playing selections from their mighty back catalogue. To remind the world of the scope and depth of the Blow Monkey sound Demon records have just released a new beautifully packaged 36 track best of entitled "DIGGING YOUR SCENE THE BEST OF THE BLOW MONKEYS", probably the most comprehensive round up of their career to date. Meanwhile the bands official archivist Mick Anker has posted some fantastic new clips of the band up on "You Tube" including the infamous "feather boa" version of "Out With Her" on Top Of The Pops and the perplexing (to the on looking sailors in the audience!) "djellaba" version of "Digging" on the sadly missed Tom O'Connor show. Also check out the great version of "Celebrate" with Curtis Mayfield live in Montreaux and "The Blow Monkeys Live at Wembley" clip from 1986.

The songs are two poems of the decadent 18th century Russian poet
Eric Count Stenbock put to music. The CD is packaged with beautiful artwork and lyrics and is one of a series of two track CD's to include songs by Jeremy Reed and Jean Genet amongst others. Each one will feature original paintings of Marc as well as the poems themselves and a photo of the poet concerned. Together
they will make a beautiful collection. Details of future releases will be announced as the project develops.

SIMPLE MINDS, ANNIE LENNOX, QUEEN and EDDY GRANT have all been confirmed for the bill of the forthcoming concert to mark Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday which is scheduled to take place in London's Hyde Park on June 27th.

PET SHOP BOYS teamed up with MADNESS at the weekend for a special performance of the Madness classic 'My Girl' at a special benefit concert organised by the Pet Shop Boys for the family of Dainton Connell, their former friend and assistant, who died in a car accident last year. The concert took place at London's Heaven nightclub.

SQUEEZE have announced August and September dates across the US, see GIGS for details. Meanwhile Squeeze mainman CHRIS DIFFORD's recent solo album, 'The Last Temptation Of Chris', has been reviewed in the REVIEWS section.

PRINCE will publish his first official book '21 Nights' in the autumn. The book, described as 'a photographic essay incorporating images, lyrics and poetry' will celebrate the singer's 21 date residency at London's O2 Arena last year. The book will also come with a CD entitled 'Indigo Nights' which will feature songs from the after show concerts Prince performed at the venue.

TINA TURNER will start her first tour for eight years at the Sprint Centre in Kansas City on October 1st, the first of around forty planned US shows which look likely to be followed by shows in Europe and around the world.

DEACON BLUE will release a CD/DVD package 'Live' on June 9th. The live package was recorded on the band's European tour last year and features the band's best known and most loved tracks including Dignity, Real Gone Kid, Wages Day and Chocolate Girl. The DVD also contains exclusive rehearsal and interview footage. See NEWS for the full album tracklisting.

MIDGE URE has finished recording a collection of cover versions for an album - 'Ten' - to be released later this year. According to Ure the tracklisting consists of 'songs that moulded my sense of melody and atmosphere, which still permeate my own writing today'. Two tracks from the record 'Man Of The World' and 'Alfie' will be released as a promo single for German radio but can also be purchased from the official Midge Ure website.

ANNIE LENNOX is to receive the British Red Cross's Services to Humanity Award in recognition of the 'significant humanitarian role she has played throughout her career'. She will receive the award and perform a short set at a gala evening in aid of the charity which will take place in London on June 12th.

DURAN DURAN are to play a special concert in Paris in collaboration with Mark Ronson. The show will take place at the city's La Cigale venue on July 2nd and will see the two acts perform reworked versions of songs from the Duran Duran catalogue as well as a track from the recent 'Red Carpet Massacre' album. The band have also announced the Italian leg of their 'Red Carpet Massacre' tour with seven shows scheduled in the country in July. See GIGS for all the dates.

KYLIE MINOGUE has been awarded the French 'Chevalier Dans L’ordre Des Arts Et Lettres' award, one of the highest cultural awards possible from the French government, in recognition of her 'contribution to the enrichment of French culture'.

BILLY IDOL - who will release a special CD/DVD hits package later this year - has announced two UK shows for July. See GIGS for all the dates.

THE CURE's new album, their thirteenth, is thought to be called '13' and will be released in September. The double album will be preceded by four singles, released monthly on the 13th of May (entitled 'The Only One'), June (entitled 'Freakshow'), July and August.

UB40 have announced that their new singer will be Duncan Campbell, brother of their former frontman Ali Campbell who left the band recently, who has said that relations with his brother have been strained...

OMD have lined up a short UK tour for later this year with dates announced for late September and early October, see GIGS for all the dates.

SPANDAU BALLET will reissue their classic single 'True' on May 5th to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the original release. The single will be released as a downloadable EP (see NEWS for the full tracklisting) and will be followed by a Spandau Ballet 'Sight & Sound' CD/DVD package, featuring all the band's hits and their accompanying promo videos, in the summer.

BOY GEORGE has announced a handful of US concert dates to take place in July and August, see GIGS for all the dates.

YAZOO's classic single 'Situation' has been sampled - with the duo's permission - on 'If This Is Love' the first single from a new girl band The Saturdays who will be debuting the song live when they support Girls Aloud on their forthcoming tour.

THE WATERBOYS will release a download-only album of rare and unreleased material next week. 'Kiss The Wind' features sixteen archive tracks recorded between 1991 and 2006 and includes demo versions, live tracks and cover versions.

HOWARD JONES will play a very special anniversary concert at London's Indigo 2 on September 20th. The concert, to celebrate twenty-five years since the release of 'New Song', will go onsale on May 2nd with a limited number of VIP tickets available. See NEWS for more details.

GRACE JONES, TOM TOM CLUB, YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS and GANG OF FOUR are among the artists appearing at this year's Meltdown Festival on London's South Bank in June. The festival is being curated by Massive Attack.

THOMAS DOLBY has remixed Radiohead's current single 'Nude' using the publicly available 'strands' of the original song which Radiohead have made available for users to remix in their own style. Dolby's ambient, dreamlike 'Bathing In The Icefloe Mix' won't be released commercially but is available at Radiohead's remix website - see NEWS for more information.

BAUHAUS frontman PETER MURPHY has announced a solo tour of the US which will start in late May and run through to July. See GIGS for all the dates.

DEACON BLUE have announced shows in Perth and Gateshead in July in the run-up to their performance at Liverpool's Summer Pops on July 11th. See GIGS for all the details.

NEW ORDER are to release a new live DVD on June 2nd. 'New Order: Live In Glasgow' was recorded at the Glasgow Academy in 2006 and features eighteen tracks including four JOY DIVISION songs. The release will also contain a bonus disc of footage from the band's personal archive including eighties footage from Glastonbury, Rome, Cork, Rotterdam and Toronto.

THE B-52's have announced shows in Barcelona and Madrid in July. See GIGS for all the details.

BLONDIE will play at this year's Latitude Festival which will take place in July at Henham Park in Suffolk as well as the Summercase Festival in Barcelona and Madrid on July 18th and 19th.

BIG COUNTRY, THE PROCLAIMERS, SIMPLE MINDS, DEACON BLUE, MIDGE URE, MARILLION are to be included on a new 5-CD compilation album 'The Great Big Scottish Songbook' - a celebration of Scottish music - which is released on May 25th.

PAUL WELLER is to headline a new Isle Of Wight-based Festival which will take place this summer. Weller will headline on July 26th with Girls Aloud topping the bill the following night. The former Jam singer has also announced a one-off Liverpool concert at the Echo Arena on November 17th.

JOHNNY HATES JAZZ's classic 'Turn Back The Clock' album, which is about to be reissued in a remastered edition with bonus tracks, has been reviewed in the REVIEWS section.

DONNA SUMMER will release her new album 'Crayons' on May 20th and will support the release with a US tour through June, July and August.

MADONNA is to headline BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend live event on May 10th. The event will take place in Mote Park, Maidstone.

THE DAMNED will appear alongside a host of acts including the previously announced BLONDIE and FROM THE JAM at this year's Guilfest festival which takes place over the first weekend of July.

RICK ASTLEY has replaced KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS on the bill for the the forthcoming Here And Now shows in Blickling and Exeter on July 19th and 26th respectively.
