Billie Ray Martin is pleased to announce the forthcoming release of her acclaimed Crackdown Project as a deluxe double CD digipack edition. ‘The Crackdown Project‘ features Billie’s re-workings of the Cabaret Voltaire Industrial/Dance music classics ‘The Crackdown’ and ‘Just Fascination’, along with an immense collection of innovative remixes personally commissioned by Billie featuring some of the brightest stars of the deep electronica underground.

Also featuring a vocal turn by Cabaret Voltaire founding member Stephen Mallinder – as well as a stunning remix from Hey Rube! (Mallinder’s new project with fellow dance music legend Steve Cobby) – The Crackdown Project is an expansive musical homage to the founding fathers of electronic dance music. Not only does Billie pay tribute to electronic music’s halcyon days, but she single-handedly pulls these classic tracks into the future.

When Billie told Stephen Mallinder she had just finished the job of selling out
Cabaret Voltaire to disco, he burst out laughing. The legendary head of famed
electronic band Cabaret Voltaire saw no reason to stop her. Instead, he agreed to deliver his first vocal performance in years on Billie’s cover of the Cabs’ song ‘The Crackdown’. Produced by top Berlin tech-house act Märtini Brös, this production brings Billie Ray Martin back to her famed house music roots. And with the UK's finest Nu-Disco producer Lusty Zanzibar on production for ‘Just Fascination‘ the result is a no-holds-barred epic groove fest with a Balearic touch.

Remixes were delivered not only by Billie's 'Your Loving Arms' co-writer David Harrow (under his Oicho moniker), but also by super-blog Audio Porn Central's top remix team: Celebrity Murder Party, Copycat, Divide and Create, Dunproofin, Flying White Dots, Phil RetroSpector and Year Zero have all delivered something that goes beyond mere remixing but they have created stunning artistic reworks of these classic songs.

Originally a digital release on Billie's Disco Activisto label, The Crackdown
Project
hit the pop mainstream achieving ‘Song of the Day‘ status at Popjustice and delivered 20,000 downloads in just a matter of days. It is now being released on CD for the very first time, including an exclusive new mix.

Stephen Mallinder: "Billie and I had been planning to work together for a number of years and now we finally did it."

BRM: "I could never do justice to the original songs but can have a damn good time trying."

'The Last Of The Famous International Playboys'
Special edition 7" single picture disc b/w recent Morrissey radio sessions

And

'Kill Uncle'
Remastered album

Following the release last year of the remastered edition of Viva Hate, Parlophone Records will continue their Morrissey reissue campaign with the release of a limited edition 7-inch picture disc of the classic Morrissey single 'The Last Of The Famous International Playboys' and a remastered version of his second album, Kill Uncle.

Originally released in 1989, 'The Last Of The Famous International Playboys' was Morrissey's third single and charted at number 6 in the UK. The song tackles the media glamorisation of, and public hypocrisy regarding, crime - in particular, the sensationalism of how mass-murderers are always automatically awarded the media fame that they crave. It will be available on 7" picture disc single, CD single and digital download. All three formats are backed with recent Morrissey radio sessions: 'People Are The Same Everywhere (BBC live version)', 'Action Is My Middle Name (BBC live version)' and 'The Kid's A Looker (BBC live version)', all of which were recorded exclusively for the Janice Long Show on Radio 2, on 15th June 2011. See below for format details.

In addition, on the same day, a remastered version of Kill Uncle will be released. This new version of Kill Uncle has a re-ordered tracklisting and, with the addition of the songs 'Pashernate Love' and 'East West' (a Herman's Hermits cover), as well the 'live in studio' version of 'There's A Place In Hell For Me And My Friends', the album has a revitalised quality, which accentuates some of its more subtle, experimental qualities and nuances; in particular, some of the more unusual musical styles which Morrissey explored for the first time. Upon its release in the UK, the album charted at number 8, and in the US, at number 52.

Kill Uncle has been remastered by Bill Inglot at D2 Mastering. It will be available as a gatefold CD and heavyweight gatefold LP. The picture disc single and album will both feature rare Morrissey photos and Kill Uncle will have a new cover. The artwork will be unveiled soon.

Kill Uncle tracklisting:

01. Our Frank
02. Sing Your Life
03. Mute Witness
04. King Leer
05. Asian Rut
06. Pashernate Love
07. East West

(live in the studio version)

??
